GST

GST

As you all already know, GST will be implemented this coming Wednesday, 1st April aka April Fool’s Day. GST which is also known as VAT or the value added tax in many countries is a multi-stage consumption tax on goods and services. GST is levied on the supply of goods and services at each stage of the supply chain from the supplier up to the retail stage of the distribution. Even though GST is imposed at each level of the supply chain, the tax element does not become part of the cost of the product because GST paid on the business inputs is claimable. Hence, it does not matter how many stages where a particular good and service goes through the supply chain because the input tax incurred at the previous stage is always deducted by the businesses at the next step in the supply chain. The price for clothing, foods and beverages, cars, and many more will increase by 6% due to GST. When there’s a tax, businessman will not absorb the cost, instead will pass it down to the consumers. So you can’t blame the consumers to worry so much about GST. If you want to go for shopping or any necessities, you better buy all of it now before 1st April. Are you ready for GST? As much as you want to say yes, but I know most of you are not.

1st Anniversary of MH370 Disappearance

Do you remember the missing plane MH370 on March 8, 2015? With 239 passengers on board, it was scheduled to fly from the Malaysian Capital, Kuala Lumpur, to Beijing in China. It disappeared from civilian radar screens about an hour into the scheduled six-hour flight. Guess what, it’s been a year since that incident, time flies so fast. Don’t you think it’s weird that after a year, not a single debris or wreckage have been spotted? It is really sad for the passengers’ relatives to be unable to meet them for the very last time and to give a proper burial. Where is it right now? I sure hope there’s someone who can give me all the answers I need. The government is doing their best to search for it. Other countries like Vietnam, Thailand, China, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, America and others are helping too. It seems that a special website had been set up with families provided with passwords to allow them to access to the latest information as well as the holding of meetings and briefings for updates about it. I’m sure that one day MH370 will be found cause there’s no way that it will just vanish in thin air.

What I dislike most about Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.....

It's 14th February again, the day where people spend tons of money to please their loved ones, Valentine's Day used to be a day where people express their affection to their loved ones. What I dislike the most about Valentine's Day now is the comercialization of that day where all the restaurants and florists charge exorbitant price to their customers. If a girl really love a guy, why would she want the guy to spend beyond his mean to please her? Whereas the guy can actually spend a small portion of the money to buy her flowers and dinner on any other day. Its the thought that counts, right? You can just express your love on any other day, not just that specific day.

As for Chinese New Year, a holiday where most people will enjoy. To be honest, there's really nothing much I hate about it, I get to meet my cousins and spend time with them, and the best is the Angpau's, who knows how much you will get? Full of surprises. I guess the thing I hate the most about CNY is the blazing hot weather, it's funny why the weather is always so hot during CNY. It's too bad that my grandpa's house does not have any air-conditioners.... :(

Happy CNY!!!

23rd of October

Just googled my birth date in Google(obviously...), I'm astonished to find so many historical events that happened on this date. Didn't know that I share the same birth date with famous people like Pele, the world greatest football player, Ryan Reynolds, a famous actor, Weird Al Yankovic, a very famous parody singer(isn't that weird?) and etc. Some of the very important historical events that happened on this date were :

1642- Batlle of Edgehill (Warwickshire) : King Charles I beat English parliamentarian forces

King Charles I

In the end, he lost the English Civil War, executed in Whitehall, London - but wore an extra shirt because he did not want shivers due to the cold to be misinterpreted as fear.

1917 - Lenin speaks against Kamenev, Kollontai, Stalin & Trotsky
Marxist Revolutionary and Russian Leader Vladimir Lenin
Vladimir Lenin (Marxist Revolutionary and Russian Leader)

He consolidated power through imposing censorship and authorising the 'Red Terror'. A series of strokes led to his death in 1924. St Petersburg was renamed in his honour and his body embalmed and placed on display in a Mausoleum in Red Square.

1941 - Walt Disney's animation "Dumbo" released
Animator Walt Disney
Walt Disney (Animator)

Yay! It's one of my favourite cartoon during my childhood, didn't know it was so long ago before I was born though...

Did you know?
Tornado (possible T8/F4) strikes the heart of London killing two and demolishing the wooden London Bridge on 23rd October 1091.

MOOD?

What is mood? Mood is a generalized internal state of feeling. It is closely related to the concepts of affect and emotion. For example, imagine that you are meeting up with your friend to watch telivision and hang out at his/her house(Why? Because it's fun). You notice that he/she has been frustrated and depressed. You ask him/her how's he/she is doing, but you are replied by him/her angrily, and then you appologize and he/she calms down. This situation shows negative mood which can manipulate how individuals interpret and translate the world around them, and can also direct their behaviour. Negative moods can also affect an individual's judgement and perception of objects and events. So, let's not be angry, frustrated, depressed every time and make the world a happier place cause not much benefit can come from being negative.

Stay happy but serious sometimes...

Poison Apple Alert! Beware!

The last few days there's been a lot of news about poisoned apples, I'm not talking Snow White fairy tale here, I'm talking about American apples! Actually, the poison came from a chemical substance called diphenylamine (DPA), a substance which keeps them from turning brown for months at a time when they are kept in storage. It's been used since 1962, but was banned in the European Union in 2012 since producers couldn't answer inquiries about its safety. In this modern time, more and more fruit producers and exporters are trying to make their fruit fresher when the fruits reach the consumers, we're no longer sure the fruits we eat are safe anymore. For this reason, there are more and more people are consuming organic fruits and vegetables instead. In conclusion, everyone should make sure the apples they're eating are not from America.
Europe to America: Your Apples Are HazardousIt's not as safe as it looks or is it not as scary as it looks.....

Flood in Malaysia 2014

It was truely a horrible event that happened to Malaysia, I heard that so far the flooding has killed 24 people and forced the evacuation of 160,000 people! OMG! The Malaysian government is calling it the worst flood in 30 years. On 28 December, the flood in Kelantan is slowly subsiding, but waters still remain largely above danger levels. It's not currently known how many animals were killed by the floods but it seems that there are volunteers at the S.I. Home Shelter in Shah Alam are heading out into the flood-ravaged areas of Kemaman and Pekan to rescue dogs, cats, and other animals displaced by the floods. Hanging around in flood-ridden areas is not great for health, human or animal. That’s because when the rain stops, the standing water becomes stagnant, forming bacteria and increasing the risk of disease spread.

These floods have been happening every year and nothing much has been done to prevent it from occuring. Take the Kajang town for example, flash floods happen few times a year for many years and no preventive measure have been taken. I hope that the government will do something to prevent this from happening.
