Poison Apple Alert! Beware!

The last few days there's been a lot of news about poisoned apples, I'm not talking Snow White fairy tale here, I'm talking about American apples! Actually, the poison came from a chemical substance called diphenylamine (DPA), a substance which keeps them from turning brown for months at a time when they are kept in storage. It's been used since 1962, but was banned in the European Union in 2012 since producers couldn't answer inquiries about its safety. In this modern time, more and more fruit producers and exporters are trying to make their fruit fresher when the fruits reach the consumers, we're no longer sure the fruits we eat are safe anymore. For this reason, there are more and more people are consuming organic fruits and vegetables instead. In conclusion, everyone should make sure the apples they're eating are not from America.

Flood in Malaysia 2014

It was truely a horrible event that happened to Malaysia, I heard that so far the flooding has killed 24 people and forced the evacuation of 160,000 people! OMG! The Malaysian government is calling it the worst flood in 30 years. On 28 December, the flood in Kelantan is slowly subsiding, but waters still remain largely above danger levels. It's not currently known how many animals were killed by the floods but it seems that there are volunteers at the S.I. Home Shelter in Shah Alam are heading out into the flood-ravaged areas of Kemaman and Pekan to rescue dogs, cats, and other animals displaced by the floods. Hanging around in flood-ridden areas is not great for health, human or animal. That’s because when the rain stops, the standing water becomes stagnant, forming bacteria and increasing the risk of disease spread.

These floods have been happening every year and nothing much has been done to prevent it from occuring. Take the Kajang town for example, flash floods happen few times a year for many years and no preventive measure have been taken. I hope that the government will do something to prevent this from happening.
